RESONANT CHAMBERS (2007-2008) was performed as part of the Victoria Symphony New Currents Festival in February 2008 at the Metro Studio in Victoria.
Resonant Chambers is a full length collaborative electroacoustic event inspired by the composer Alvin Lucier’s work Chambers. A delicate yet powerful soundspace was created with interrelationships between real and virtual sonic architecture, memory, time, amplification and an instrumentation of prepared piano, voices, flute, electronically processed clarinet, bowls, gongs and bells.
The work included a dream booth in which audience members were invited to share their dreams, which were later processed into the performance space and incorporated into audio elements of the evening’s performance.
Resonant Chambers was a collaboration between Andy Schloss (Max MSP programming, dream booth), Chris Reiche (keyboards, gongs, piano), Tina Pearson (flute, glass, voice), Kirk McNally (electronics, processes clarinet) and Cathy Lewis (voice, bells, bowls).
Resonant Chambers also incorporated computer programs by David Jaffe (USA), and quotations from Litany for the Whale by John Cage.
